TASH
Tash is the powerhouse lead singer, rhythm guitarist and percussion player for popular covers duo Phoenix Revival. She is an energetic and engaging solo act also operating under this name when playing covers and always leaves the crowd wanting more. Tash has two original projects on the go and is performing her own songs at many regional festivals as Gypsy NYX.
Growing up in a musical family in the UK and later in Australia has had a lot of influence in her musical development. As a young girl she started singing country, jazz and blues. With a mixture of many different genres she finds her sound is constantly changing. Cool, funky, brazen and beautiful, sassy and soulful, she sings with attitude and all her heart. She loves the classics and loves to play covers putting her own twist on them. Tash has many original compositions written from a collaboration of life experiences and nonsense.
As a solo artist she has accompanied Toni Childs, Sarah McCleod, James Blundell and Bill Chambers. Fronting The Gypsy Soldiers at many large events she has also supported at festivals the likes of Shannon Noll, Sneaky Sound System, Kate Ceberano, Leo Sayer, Ross Wilson, the Black Sorrows, Dragon, Glen Matlock from the Sex Pistols, Phil Emmanuel, Diana Anaid, Karise Eden, Mental as Anything, The Dreggs, Sticky fingers, Tones and I, Busby Marou, Mahalia Barnes and Jimmy Barnes.
In 2017 her band Gypsy Soldiers recorded their first EP Paper Dreams. It features songs written about alcohol dependency in a drinking culture. The lyrics capture real life in the pub scene and characters met along the way. Delivered to you in a style they call “folked up alco rock.” The band separated in 2021 and Tash is now performing as Gypsy NYX.
